Rotating shapes:

Grid squares can be used to show shapes, made up of squares.

We can rotate the shape, turning through a number of a right angles. First we need to choose a point which the shape can turn around.

If you turn the shape though a quarter turn, it has gone through 1 right angle.
If it is turned through a half turn, it has gone through 2 right angles.

If it moves through another right angle, so it has gone through 3 right angles.

If it goes through another right angle, it has gone back to where it started - it has gone through 4 right angles.
